About

Hello and thanks for checking out the About page – If it was an accident, you still have the right to close this tab without feeling guilty about it.

My name is Patricia, I am 19 years old and from Germany. I have answered a bazillion of bookish and bloggish questions already over here to make up for putting many readers of BE through the hell that was my survey.

A little summary, though.

She has some awesome honest reviews and a helpful guide about changing from blogspot to wordpress.

Jennifer M.

I started bookblogging in February 2011. Back then I still blogged in German, but the more time I spend blogging the more I recognized that this wasn’t for me. I almost exclusively read English novels, and I wanted to TALK about them with more than 5 people. So, in June or something BookExhibitionism got it’s own domain and I was faced with the ugly truth: I suck at English. *le gasp*

I love this self-proclaimed “bitter bookblogger”‘s blog. She actually cracks me up with her rants, so I really enjoy reading them. Though they’re actually really insightful, and it’s nice to read ideas that are stated so bluntly. Patricia not only reviews books, but she talks about issues which she’s so passionate about.

As a reader, I’m quite negative about many books, because for some reasons, I take them (too?) seriously. While I know that a novel is fiction, I think it also is, to a certain degree, reality, in the way that it shapes our personality and makes us experience things our world would never let us do. This, in short, means that I avoid Old Skool Romance novels, don’t like jokes about mental diseases and altogether freak out if the protagonists cross over to the dark side and become obsessed about the chocolate their lover eats.

What I like about [Book Exhibitionism] is this:

  • I can still learn new english words from someone who is roughly 10 years younger than me. YAY!
  • I always imagine [Patricia sitting] there in [her] own cave and practically feed[ing] on books. Nice image.
  • She actually care[s] about [her] blog

That last part is important. I came across a few blogs who suggested challenges or started giveaways or whatever nice stuff, and then they gather followers like crazy, and then they miss out on keeping the blogs updated. And I sit there and go “hm.”

[She] seem[s] to remember all the stuff [she] promotes on [t]here, and that’s good. That’s reliable, and reliability is something useful for bloggers, I think.

But basically you can forget all I said … You should like it though. It’s so likeable. Like a bag of warm croissants. Oh, forget that, I’m just hungry again.

Things authors should know before requesting a review: a. My mom is a psycho– and sociologist.. Yeah, I am OCDish about research, and not only when it comes to anything related to those two faculties. b. I have huge daddy issues, so your hero shouldn’t be a crappy father, who disregards his children and wife to have a torrid affair with his mistress, the heroine. I don’t care if he redeems himself, because, well, 400 pages take about 5 hours to read. Five hours aren’t enough to redeem the hero who, yes, will become a placeholder. (Additionally, since I often relate to the heroine more than I do to the hero, it would be quite awkward to read a sex-scene including the heroine and my father… And now I have a visual in my head. Help!)

Things people should know, so they don’t befriend me – then find out – and unfriend me, leaving me in a pit of sorrow and desperation: a. I don’t eat cookies. b. I’m in an on-off-relationship with vegetarism. c. I know the lyrics to almost every German Digimon song & I still love the Pokémon Gameboy Games.

And d. I love every comment, tweet, mail, click.. Yes, even the anon comment I got last week telling me that my accent was weird. (I have never posted a vlog XD)

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

P.S. Yes, I usually follow back, and most of the times via RSS Feeddemon. I definitely follow back if you have bloglovin or the Linkyfollowerthing. : )

Patricia sucks balls. I hate her and her blog and I recommend you to close this tab instantly.
